Artecoll: Artecoll differs from all the preceding
products in that it is a permanent injectable filler that consists
of 'plastic' microspheres suspended in a solution of bovine collagen.
It is used to fill out wrinkles and folds and to provide lip fullness.
Following injection the collagen will slowly disappear but the microscopic
plastic beads remain. Once again the patient must be tested for allergy
to the collagen. Treatment with Artecoll usually requires a number
of sessions over several months. The results can be expected to last
for years.
BOTOX® Cosmetic: BOTOX® Cosmetic (a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium) can be used to weaken muscles that produce undesirable facial expressions. It is used most commonly to weaken the frowning muscles that create frown lines between the eyebrows. BOTOX® Cosmetic can also be used to diminish crow's feet and forehead lines. Treatment can take as little as 15 minutes, and the results will last from 4 to 6 months.
Dermalive® & Dermadeep®: Dermalive® and Dermadeep® are two complementary semi-permanent injectable implants designed for filling wrinkles and folds, for correcting skin imperfections and for remodelling facial contours. The results look natural and last for many years instead of the usual few months. There is little risk of allergy and the injectables contain no preservatives or anaesthesics and can therefore be used immediately without the necessity of a skin test.
Restylane: Restylane is another version of a hyaluronic acid gel for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. Do not be misled by the word 'acid' - these products are clear, cool gels that do not damage the tissues when they are injected. Perlane is a slightly longer-lasting version of Restylane and is used for lip enhancement and the correction of deep folds.
